Top Five Sources of News Information

Associated Press won the 2026 Pulitzer Prize for International reporting 

For my number one source of news, I would consider Associated Press my number one resource for news. I would consider this my prefeed news source because they are a source with standards of objectivity. They are known for their neutral "just the facts" reporting, they avoid loaded language, they provide multiple sources of verification in their publishing, and have a clear separation between news reporting and opinion writing. Additionally independent media bias monetarizing organizations such as AllSlides consistently rate Associated Press as one of the most factually reliable and least biased major news source. In today's society where finding a non-biased major media outlet is rare, I would recommend this one as a way for people to find common-ground in the news.

Another reliable news source I recommend is the Wall Street Journal . The Wall Street Journal has a reputation for rigorous fact-based reporting especially focusing in on business, finance, and economics. The Wall Street Journal was also a beneficial place for me to search about the latest news about the Stock Market for once of the classes I took. This is a source I typically recommend to my friends who are Business and Entrepreneur majors. 

According to Pew Research Center  TikTok provides some of the best content for 
first-hand perspectives such as fans at a concert or even red carpets.

My third recommended news source would be TikTok. Although the popular news outlets like CNN, NBC, and Fox have short-form that they produce on the apps, which may be accurate, this would definitely not be a source I would 100% recommended for national/international news as videos and content can easily be falsely displayed, exaggerated, or AI generated. The kind of news I would more so recommend for people on this app is news in the form of Pop Culture. Here you can find different Povs from your favorite artist concert, or a game winning kick from all different angles, so although may be recommended I would confidently recommend for popular culture purposes. 

BBC secured seven wins at the 2026 RTS Television Journalism Award 

BBC News  is another great outlet for national and international coverage because like the Associated Press they are known for their reliable reporting, extensive international coverage, and detailed explanation of current events. I view BBC news a neutral source because it aims to report multiple perspectives, has strong international focus, and is frequently rated near tje political center of independent media-biased organizations. 

According to NPR in Kansas City ESPN is widely considered the top and largest 
sports news and media organization in the United States. 

My last recommended news source would be ESPN. I would recommend ESPN because rit is one of the largest media organizations that provides a lot of sports content such as live scores, breaking news, and highlights. I would recommend ESPN as a sports news source because it provides extensive coverage of professional and collegiate sports, offers timely updates and highlights, and includes analysis from experienced sports journalists and commentators. Its wide range of content makes it a useful source for people who want to stay informed about sports news and events
